Finished with sin // 1 Peter 4:1-3

“So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.” (1 Peter 4:1-3 NLT)

Overcoming ANY AND ALL sin will cause you to suffer… Over coming our sinful habits are never something enjoyable… We must learn to suffer well…

Ask a heroin addict if walking away from that addiction was easy? Or an alcoholic? Or a smoker? Or a sex addict? Some addictions will actually cause PHYSICAL suffering while your body detoxes from it… If you look back at the start of your addiction… Whether you just started with weed… Or “casual” drinking… or “One a day” smoking… or just that one “sexual” video… Was that enough to please that desire? Or did it turn into more hardcore drugs? From “casual” drinking to getting completely wasted? from “One a day” to “One PACK a day”? From one “sexual” video to a life of constant sexual immortality?

You will NEVER have enough sinful pleasure… It will only spiral out of control until it destroys everything the Lord wants for you… That’s satan’s favorite weapon… Just one bite Eve… It won’t hurt..

It is NEVER easy to walk away from our sinful nature, BUT that’s when love can drive us… Christ suffered well, Paul suffered well, many suffered well and were rewarded in heaven… Would you rather have 40 years of pleasure (maximum) or an eternity of pleasures beyond earthly measures… Jesus can renew you, make you pure, holy, righteous, and wonderful beyond measure… Its a gift FREELY given… Just receive it…

Love wins… Grace wins…
