Become // Proverbs 13:20

Typically, this verse would be easily applied towards walking with other strong believers… WHICH is incredibly accurate and should not be overlooked, BUT this morning Holy Spirit challenged me to go deeper with it. It’s always a blessing when the Spirit urges to meditate deeper into scripture itself to find a more meaningful truth…

What if this scripture also applied with walking in all of God’s presence. Walking with Holy Spirit in all that we do. The word clearly tells us in James 1:5 that if we need wisdom, to ask our generous God who will give it to us. These two verses together make me wonder if we should take this verse at a much deeper level besides simply the people to our left and right in our everyday lives. Once we see and accept this it only brings into the question how do we exactly do that… How do we walk in God’s presence and an awareness of Him? Here are a few tips that work for me.

  1. First thing in the morning I put on worship music as I wake up. Singing little praises, prayers, and thanks to God for the morning. Although it takes me a while to get up and fully alert, it sets my heart, mind, and spirit on God.
  2. Once I’m awake and alert enough I’ll read a short devotional & get the verse to meditate on for this blog. I read into it, pray over it, and just sit. No fancy studying. Not looking up the greek, hebrew, etc… Just asking God for clarity for the verse. As I start feeling things being put on my heart, then I start to read & seek deeper into these tugs from the spirit to confirm with the rest of the scriptures.
  3. Finally, I read through one of the proverbs, and find a scripture to meditate on for the day. Since today is the 3rd, I read Proverbs 3 and am meditating on verse 3-4 which say, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” All day I will read this verse and ask God for a deeper understand and an application for this verse. It is better to allow one verse to transform the way we live than to have the entire bible memorized.

Throughout the day I continue to listen to worship, sermons, read scriptures when I can, etc… Although this may not work for you, it works for me on getting my heart & mind set on God first thing. In my own walk, this is how I set my path to the Lord’s path and walk with Holy Spirit during the day. By giving Him the first and best part of my day before the busyness of life overwhelms my time…

Love wins…. Grace win…
