#VOD: Philippians 4:13

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

(Philippians 4:13 NLT)

This verse is commonly taken out of context and used for sports and things of that nature… WHICH I am not against in any way. Use it how God speaks to you for whatever season of life you are in…

One thing that I feel must be pointed out is that we can do everything THROUGH CHRIST. With that being stated that should clear up any question on if this verse applies to everything in life… Because it doesn’t.

Let me elaborate a bit. Christ will give you strength for things He wants for you. This does not apply to each and every thing in your life. There will be certain things that are done on a daily basis that isn’t through Christ… Yes, I get that Christ is intricately involved in each and every area of our lives, BUT that does not mean that everything we are doing is something He wants for us…

I say this simply to set the tone for those that have been “disappointed” in something that “failed” when they were relying on this verse. That failure might not have been something that was through Christ… That failure might have been through yourself and your ambitions.  That’s where people using this scripture in the wrong manner bothers me. Simply because many people blame God for not giving them the strength they wanted for the task they created…

I am a firm believer that God will strengthen you through Jesus to accomplish all that He has for us in this life. First, we must establish that what we are doing is rooted in Christ and THEN the strength to persevere will come…

Love wins fam… Grace wins…
