The fight of faith is a good fight indeed, but it’s not an easy one.
Although this verse can be taken as encouraging and motivational, it is actually an incredibly challenging verse! If you read all of the actions that are taking place within this verse you will quickly realize that this verse is Paul calling Timothy to action! We must FIGHT the good fight of faith and TAKE HOLD of eternal life.
This life we live as Christians was never meant to be a passive life. We aren’t meant to simply go to church Sunday, punch of “Christian” time card and do our moral duties. NO. God intends for us to have a much more abundant life! God’s mission and purpose for us all is to live radical lives completely abandoned to Him. To stand up when others sit down, to love when others reject, to encourage when others abandon hope.
Jesus came to free us all from the prison of religious duties. If God wanted us to live a mediocre life of religious duties and requirement’s He would have kept the Levitical system in place. He doesn’t want perfection, He wants our hearts… Our hearts that are on fire to fight the good fight, and take hold of eternal life… This life on earth gets rough, but the rewards in heaven will be worth each and every struggle ten fold…
