The simple fact is that life is not always a beautiful forest or rolling plains. Many times it will be a wilderness… A dry wasteland. There are so many biblical examples of God doing amazing things in the midst of utter despair. When there is NO way, He makes a way…
I say this from a point of being completely vulnerable with where life is. At times, we are stuck in the wilderness. We feel like life is a wasteland with no way out. It feels like history is repeating itself and like God has abandoned you… If we read the bible there are many moments where people were in a completely hopeless place and then God moved in incredibly mighty ways.
Time and time again it is in the darkest moments and deepest hurts when God’s light and love shine the brightest. I know that in the midst of it all, you may feel surrounded by darkness but that’s not your future. God is about to do something new in your life. The tears, the heartache, the despair and the never-ending pit in your stomach will be replaced with the greatest joy you have ever experienced. When you flesh is screaming out you in fear, that’s when your spirit will be able to rise up in faith.
Even if you do not see it now, we MUST hold onto the promises that God gives us. We must turn to the character of God. We must hold firm to the fact that God is a good, faithful and loving God.
When you feel like you are in over your head, that’s okay. He is there.
When you feel like this pain will never end, that’s okay. He is there.
When you feel like there is no other option, that’s okay. He is there.
When you feel like your life is spiraling out of control and there is nothing you can do, that’s okay. He is there.
When you feel like there is no end to the tears you will shed, that’s okay. He is there.
You see, there is an immense healing that God wants to do in all of our lives.
During these gloomy days, we must think about a seed that is buried deep underground. The winter seasons of life are absolutely necessary and is similar to the cycles we go through in life. There is a plant inside waiting to burst through its shell and blossom into a beautiful flower, BUT we do not see evidence of what the seed is doing during the winter.
Just like the disciples were left in complete despair after Jesus’ death on the cross. It seemed like all hope was lost. It seemed like everything Jesus said and did was in vain. It seemed like there would never be a reason to hope again, BUT then Sunday came. The New Thing was accomplished and we can all hold onto that same hope.
Life is full of disappointments and hurts, BUT GOD is doing something new. There will be moments of incredible harvest, but to have those moments of harvest we must have seasons of planting, waiting and hoping for the season that is to come…
